This is the beginning of a series I'm going to work on.  I never really write haikus much, but I've always appreciated writers of this form for their ability to create such a beautiful moment is such a limited space.  Please humor me as I practice :)

Simple Things

Pool reflections float
on our living room ceiling,
a bit of magic.

     ........

Clean dishes, warm bath.
The clarity of nothing
to do but sit, be.

     ........

Purple petals on
lunch. Delicate reminder
you're still here. I'm yours.
"The first Step is Always the Hardest, so leap."

Bathroom tile inspiration
graffitied  in my favorite colored ink
on the wall that keeps my
current deeds a private matter.
Thank you, perfect purple loving
stranger for easing the mind of a
love sick drifter who needed
that pep talk. Somehow,
it meant more coming from you,
this invisible pen I'll never
put a face to.
You're like that moment when
you should have crashed
but someone, somewhere
was looking out.

Just Thinking...

Definitely a first draft but....

A Sigh and a Smile

When clarity comes easy.
The solutions to my lifelong conundrums
present themselves to me in each person
I pass by, because I find myself much more interested
in people than silver platters.  When I can wake up,
stretch my arms to Heaven and back and know that
my life is a rubix cube of complication and bliss
and clutter and contentment…and that is
is never going to come together the way that
I would prefer, but that is OK.
When I understand why it can’t be all about me.
When I learn why if I don’t put me first sometimes
I won’t be equipped to be there for others.  When I learn
I can’t help everyone all the time and that I am not
responsible for their happiness or misery.
When I can enter my own thoughts,
and feel safe.

Thoughts While Watching People Watch the Rain

Exhibition

I get sweet pleasure out of watching
the umbrella being ravished by the rain.
I find it a refreshing notion
to be caught up in the midst
of the wet, tumultuous  madness
that I am being witness to.
To be covered,
soaked with passion, simply,
being taken by the elements
while onlookers, safe and protected
wonder if it is wrong that they wish they
could be me.

A Look Back

So, I wrote this poem that I am about to share with you a long time ago in a poetry workshop course.  It was based on a prompt given to me by me epically wonderful teacher Emily Wall, but like everything I write, it meant much more to me that simply an in class assignment.  It was an expression of how I felt and how I wish I could feel.  I am happy and blessed to say that I have found someone who's arms will wind around me forever.

What is Loneliness?

A widow who sits
Glancing out her window, to the couple holding hands
Snuggling so close that the mist of
Their breath I the cold twilight meets
As though it were simply one persons breathing
They seem to not mind the iron bench beneath them
Which is frigid from the winter night’s breeze
That blows puffs of snow
Over their booted feet
Perhaps their woolen scarves keep them warm
Perhaps their coats, shielding them from the crisp air
Or, more likely
Their arms
Which seem to winds around each other forever
As their chilled cheeks touch in their embrace
Their silent onlooker,
Up in her window
Is like a lighthouse whose light has burnt out,
And been abandoned by its keeper
But still watches over the ocean

Wow...Apparent;y I am really bad at this

So, I guess I'm blogging again. Ha.  OK, I promise this time that I am actually going to make an attempt to keep up with this.  Forget the fact that I have been distracted by work, love, life and the general world around me....yeah....I'm just lazy when it comes to these things.  Although, in my defense, my computer was being plagued by viruses for a bit.  Anyway, I'm back online and hopefully this thing will actually become a habit for me.  I really do have a lot of thoughts to share through as many interesting means as possible and this does seem like a decent way to do it.  We'll see how this goes.  Hopefully better this time around.
